Dear CU Amiga ,
As you may have guessed by now, I am
writing on several different subjects in several
different letters, despite sending this all at the
same time ;-) However strange as this may seem,
it does keep things neat for you, I hope.
Anyway, you have CD writing abilities, obviously.
So, how about you put on the CD an audio track
that was written using an A1200, on OctaMED Pro
V6, using a MIDI link to a SoundBlaster AWE32?
Dance style music, uses samples, rather than all
GM instruments? Sound good?
It would show off what you can do with the Amiga,
despite it still only having 8bit 4channel sound.
OK, it's also a desperate attempt for me to get
one of my tracks published on CD. I can send you
a copy of the track, digitally recorded, on Sony
Minidisc, should you be mad enough to accept my
offer. Of course, you would want to hear the
track first, so if you contact me, I can send you
a tape of all of my MIDI stuff, and you can pick
one or two you like. you never know, the readers
might like it, and it also shows just how much
further you can go making music with an Amiga.
Ah, but who am I? Well, I've written dance music
on the Amiga for 4 years now, improving all the
time. You already have copies of my music written
in OctaMED V4, so you can judge what my stuff
sounds like now, in 24 track stereo with chorus
and reverb...
Also, I write for Total Irrelevance, should you
have read that disk magazine (I'm currently doing
a Dance Masterclass series for them, and even one
person in Sweden wrote in saying how they liked
it!). If you cast your mind back a couple of
years to the Amiga Experiment music CD fiasco, you
may also recall that Evolution was featured as
track 2, and was written by me. So, that's my
pedigree so far.
C'mon, guv, give us a break. You know it makes
sense.
Anyway, what harm is there in trying?
Yours hopefully,
-Ian Chisholm
